Description
Coated Stainless Cable Ties
Coated stainless cable ties provide a durable fastening solution for cables, hoses and components in demanding electrical and industrial environments.
Engineering Supplies’ SSC Series combines 316 grade stainless steel with a black polyester coating. In addition, the self-locking roller mechanism allows the tie to secure around the bundle without a separate buckle.
The polyester coating is non-toxic and halogen-free, while the underlying stainless steel provides the strength and durability required for demanding installations.
316 Polyester Coated Cable Tie Features
Key features include:
- 316 grade stainless steel construction
- Black polyester coating
- Non-toxic coating
- Halogen-free coating
- Self-locking roller design
- 4.6mm standard width
- 7.9mm heavy-duty width
- Lengths from 100mm to 680mm
- Packs of 100
- Suitable for cable and component bundling
- Suitable for indoor and outdoor applications
- Wide range of bundle capacities
Because the metal strap has a coated outer surface, the SSC range also provides an alternative where users prefer a covered stainless tie rather than exposed metal.
Available SSC Cable Tie Sizes
Engineering Supplies currently lists the following coated versions:

Each stocked variation comes in a pack of 100. Your current website lists these nine variations.
Standard & Heavy-Duty Coated Ties
The 4.6mm standard SSC range has a minimum loop tensile rating of approximately 44.5kg.
Meanwhile, the 7.9mm H versions increase the specified minimum loop tensile rating to 55kg. Therefore, the heavier ties suit larger bundles and applications that need additional mechanical holding strength.
Choose the tie according to both the required bundle diameter and the mechanical requirements of the installation.
Why Use a Polyester Coated Stainless Tie?
The SSC Series combines the mechanical properties of a stainless steel tie with a coated outer surface.
As a result, these ties provide an option for installations where customers want:
- 316 stainless steel construction
- A black finish
- A covered metal strap
- Halogen-free coating
- High mechanical strength
- Long-term cable bundling
- A self-locking metal fastening system
For completely uncoated metal ties, see our 316 Stainless Steel Cable Ties.
Industrial & Infrastructure Applications
Polyester coated stainless ties suit applications including:
- Mining and resources
- Rail infrastructure
- Utilities
- Cable trays
- Electrical installations
- Switchboards
- Industrial machinery
- Process plants
- Telecommunications
- Infrastructure
- Outdoor equipment
- Marine and coastal installations
Grade 316 stainless steel generally provides better resistance to chloride-related corrosion than 304 stainless. However, material selection should still consider the actual environment, especially in severe marine or chemical exposure. For further information, see the Australian Stainless Steel Development Association.
Coated vs Uncoated Stainless Steel Cable Ties
Engineering Supplies stocks both coated and uncoated 316 stainless options.
The SSC Series uses a black, halogen-free polyester coating.
In comparison, the SS Series Stainless Steel Cable Ties leave the stainless steel surface exposed.
Therefore, choose the coated range where the black covered finish better suits the installation, or select the uncoated range where a bare stainless tie is preferred.
Cable Tie Installation
The SSC Series uses a self-locking roller mechanism. Once the installer tensions the stainless strap through the locking head, the roller holds the band securely around the bundle.
For consistent installation and trimming, use the appropriate stainless steel cable tie tensioning tool.
