RHTEPE-16 Hydraulic Head for Rail Bush Installation

The RHTEPE-16 hydraulic head is Cembre’s professional solution for installing AR electrical contact bushes into the rail web. Cembre designed it specifically for use with the AR6516 Rail Web Bush Connection Kit and a precision-drilled 22 mm rail web hole.

During installation, the hydraulic head pulls the calibrated OG16.2T mandrel through the conductive bush. As a result, the mandrel expands the bush firmly against the rail to create a permanent, gas-tight metal-to-metal electrical connection.

The RHTEPE-16 works with compatible Cembre hydraulic equipment, including the B1300TEP-T Battery Hydraulic Installation Tool.

RHTEPE-16 Installation Kit Includes

The Cembre RHTEPE-16 kit includes:

  • 1 x RHTEPE-16 Hydraulic Bush Installation Head
  • 2 x OG16.2T Mandrels to suit AR6516
  • 1 x CAL22.23 Mandrel Installation Tool and Go/No-Go Hole Gauge

Installing AR6516 Rail Web Bushes

First, drill an accurate 22 mm hole into the rail web. For best results, we recommend using the Cembre CY220 Broach Cutter with a compatible Cembre rail drilling machine.

Next, use the CAL22.23 Go/No-Go gauge to confirm that the hole meets the required tolerance. Once confirmed, position the AR6516 bush in the rail web.

The RHTEPE-16 hydraulic head then pulls the OG16.2T mandrel through the bush. Consequently, the bush expands into the rail and forms the permanent electrical interface.

This controlled installation process helps produce a reliable, low-resistance rail connection without welding.
