Description

Two-Eye Hose Restraint (Stainless Steel)

A hose restraint, also called a hose whip restraint or hose safety cable, secures a hydraulic or pneumatic hose to a fixed anchor point so the hose cannot whip if a coupling fails or the hose itself bursts under pressure. This two-eye stainless restraint wraps around the hose with a woven wire mesh body and closes to two eyes at the working end, giving two attachment points for securing to a fixed anchor, in a stainless steel finish for corrosion resistance.

The mesh tightens its grip around the hose as tension increases. Consequently, the restraint holds its position under load rather than sliding along the hose. Basically, the harder the pull on the anchor line, the tighter the mesh grips the hose.

Two-Eye Hose Restraint (Stainless Steel) Sizes

Specifically, this range spans fifteen size bands, from 6mm to 300mm hose outside diameter.

  • 6.0mm to 14mm
  • 14mm to 20mm
  • 20mm to 30mm
  • 30mm to 40mm
  • 40mm to 50mm
  • 50mm to 60mm
  • 60mm to 70mm
  • 70mm to 85mm
  • 85mm to 100mm
  • 100mm to 120mm
  • 120mm to 140mm
  • 140mm to 180mm
  • 180mm to 220mm
  • 220mm to 260mm
  • 260mm to 300mm

Generally, the correct size band is the one that covers the hose’s actual outside diameter, measured before ordering. Indeed, ordering the wrong band is the most common reason a restraint does not grip correctly on site. Furthermore, a snug size is what allows the mesh to tighten properly once tension is applied.

Applications

Installers use this restraint wherever a hydraulic or pneumatic hose run needs a safety restraint at a coupling or termination point. Accordingly, the stainless finish suits outdoor, marine or corrosive environments where a galvanised finish would not last as well. Generally, the two-eye arrangement suits a single anchor point or a pair of anchor points close together.

Correct selection always starts with the hose’s outside diameter. Additionally, installers should confirm the restraint’s rated pull matches the job before use, since a size match alone does not confirm load suitability. Also, a cable stocking and a hose restraint have different intended tasks, so the correct product type should be confirmed for the application before ordering.
