Because the ratchet mechanism ensures a complete crimp cycle every time, the correct termination still depends on matching the ferrule size to the conductor in use. However, that match is not automatic just from having the tool on hand. Therefore, checking the ferrule size against the 10-35mm² range above is recommended before use.
Additionally, the ratchet action prevents the jaws releasing until the crimp cycle completes, giving the Utilux UT#114 crimper a controlled and repeatable termination on heavier ferrule sizes.
