Aluminium Based Deadends

In Stock

AFG aluminium deadend grips suit the specified AAC and AAAC conductor constructions. Nine options cover listed conductor diameters from 7.50 to 23.80 mm.

  • Part-specific strand and colour-code table below
  • PLP drawing dimensions for eight CL options
  • Match conductor lay, fitting code and required holding duty

Selection notes: Photos show a representative orange-marked grip. Use the specified part number and colour code. Confirm any ACSR application and do not substitute AFG-238-CL with AFG-240-LT-CL based on diameter alone.

Description

AFG aluminium deadend grips

AFG aluminium deadend grips terminate specified AAC and AAAC conductors on overhead lines. These aluminium alloy fittings use a preformed helical shape to grip along the conductor. Nine options are available here, from AFG-075 to AFG-238-CL.

PLP’s wider AFG range also includes limited-tension applications on large ACSR conductors. However, that general range description does not establish suitability for every ACSR construction. Therefore, confirm the exact conductor and required holding duty before selecting a fitting for that use.

Aluminium deadend grip sizes

The table lists the AAC/AAAC strand constructions for the current store options. All conductor diameters are in millimetres. Use these specific entries when comparing the product with your conductor schedule.

Dimensions from the PLP drawing

For reference, PLP drawing 051-039-RD, revision L, covers the eight CL options below. It specifies aluminium alloy and right-hand lay for these fittings. The dimensions are in millimetres; length A and grip length B each have a stated tolerance of ±50 mm.

In addition, consult the drawing for dimension locations and its remaining tolerances. AFG-075 does not appear in that drawing, so ask the team for its dimensions when required. Rods per set describes the fitting construction; it is not an order pack quantity.

Confirm the fitting and duty

AFG-238-CL appears in the PLP drawing for 19/4.75 AAC and AAAC conductors. The distribution catalogue also lists a different code, AFG-240-LT-CL, for a 23.80 mm conductor entry. However, a shared diameter does not establish that these parts are interchangeable. Confirm the specified code and holding duty before substitution.

  • First, identify the conductor material, strand construction and diameter.
  • Then check the lay direction against the exact grip specification.
  • Next, compare the complete part number, including its suffix.
  • Finally, confirm the termination hardware and mechanical requirements from the project drawing.

The available selection documents do not assign a working load to each store option. Consequently, use the applicable manufacturer specification for the required conductor and duty. Follow PLP’s installation instructions and arrange installation by qualified line workers.
