CFG copper alloy deadends for HDC conductors
CFG copper alloy deadends terminate specified hard drawn copper (HDC) conductors. These preformed grips follow the conductor strands to form the termination. Six priced options are available here, with conductor sizes and colour codes shown below.
PLP lists right-hand lay as standard for this CFG range. However, the grip must match the actual conductor lay. The lay describes the direction in which the strands twist. Therefore, check the conductor details before ordering, even when the diameter appears to match.

The table shows the store options and their catalogue strand constructions. All conductor diameters are in millimetres. For entries with several alternatives, read the stranding and diameter values in the same order.

For example, CFG-100-CL covers the listed 19/2.00 construction at 10.00 mm, 7/3.50 at 10.50 mm, and 19/2.11 at 10.55 mm. Similarly, CFG-125 lists 19/2.56 at 12.80 mm and 37/1.75 at 12.25 mm. These are specific catalogue entries, rather than continuous diameter ranges.
Check conductor type and lay
The standard right-hand lay selection needs particular care when replacing an existing fitting. PLP notes that cadmium copper conductors use left-hand lay and require the appropriate left-hand lay grips. Consequently, do not choose a standard CFG grip for that conductor solely by its diameter.
- First, identify the conductor material and full strand construction.
- Then confirm the lay direction and the corresponding grip specification.
- Next, compare the complete CFG code, including any suffix, with your parts list.
- Finally, check the required mechanical duty and connecting hardware for the termination.
Colour marks support identification and show the application starting point. However, yellow appears on both CFG-060 and CFG-100-CL in this listing. Therefore, use the part number and strand details together when selecting the fitting.
Handling and technical support
Follow the current PLP instructions for the exact part. In addition, protect the preformed rods from damage during handling and keep them in cartons under cover before use. PLP specifies installation by qualified line workers and prohibits modifying the fitting.
The selection table does not provide individual working loads or grip lengths. If your drawing specifies these details, ask the team to check the applicable manufacturer documentation before purchase.
