Description
Termco Piggyback Adaptors
Piggyback adaptors, also called add-a-tab terminals, plug onto an existing male tab and present their own male tab in turn. This lets a second wire join the same connection point without a separate splice or Y-lead. Termco piggyback adaptors suit stranded conductors from 0.5mm² to 6.0mm², in a 6.3mm tab size.
Because the adaptor sits between the existing tab and its terminal, it keeps a single connection point tidy even when a second circuit needs to share it. Consequently, piggyback adaptors avoid the need to re-crimp or double up wires under one tab.
Sizes and Colour Coding
Specifically, this range covers three conductor sizes, each colour-coded to match the wire gauge.
- 0.5mm² – 1.5mm² – Red
- 1.5mm² – 2.5mm² – Blue
- 2.5mm² – 6.0mm² – Yellow
Applications
Installers use piggyback adaptors wherever an extra circuit needs to share an existing push-on tab, such as an indicator lamp, a warning buzzer or a parallel relay coil. Accordingly, this range covers the standard 6.3mm tab size found in this equipment.
In all cases, correct crimping requires a crimping tool suited to this conductor size range. The 6.3mm tab size matches the standard push-on terminal size used elsewhere in the Termco range, keeping mixed connections on the same wiring loom compatible. Because the adaptor’s own tab faces the same way as the one it plugs into, the original connector can still be unplugged and refitted without removing the adaptor first.
