Description
The Cembre RHU600 is a heavy-duty hydraulic crimping head for installing large electrical compression connectors on aluminium and copper conductors up to 1022 mm².
It develops 600 kN of nominal crimping force, making it suitable for demanding power utility, transmission, distribution and infrastructure applications.
In addition, the RHU600 uses Cembre’s standard 600 kN die system and connects to a suitable 700 bar hydraulic pump through an automatic-locking quick coupler.
RHU600 Hydraulic Crimping Head
The RHU600 uses a large U-shaped hydraulic head designed for high-force electrical connector installation.
Its hydraulic ram develops 600 kN of crimping force while operating at a maximum pressure of 700 bar.
Therefore, the head provides substantially greater compression force than Cembre’s smaller 130 kN and 230 kN hydraulic systems.
The tool requires approximately 320 cm³ of hydraulic oil displacement for a complete operating cycle.
RHU600 600 kN Crimping Force
The RHU600 handles compatible compression connectors on aluminium and copper conductors up to 1022 mm².
Depending on the selected dies and connector system, supported crimping geometries include:
- Hexagonal crimping
- Circular crimping
- Indent crimping
Therefore, the hydraulic head can support a wide range of high-capacity electrical connection applications.
Cembre also specifies that the RHU600 can crimp connectors for Ø41.1 mm aluminium conductor when used with the appropriate M600-600 dies.
Always select the correct die set for the conductor, connector and required crimping profile.
RHU600 600 kN Die Compatibility
The head accepts Cembre’s standard 600 kN crimping dies.
In addition, Cembre states that the RHU600 is compatible with interchangeable Cembre dies and other compatible standard die systems.
This makes the head particularly suitable for organisations operating large conductor crimping systems across utility, transmission and industrial networks.
Crimping dies are sold separately unless otherwise specified.
Openable U-Shaped Crimping Head
The upper section of the RHU600 can open to make it easier to position large connectors within the head.
First, operators release the head latch and rotate the upper section. The connector can then be positioned between the installed dies.
Once the connector is correctly positioned, close and secure the head before starting the hydraulic cycle.
As a result, operators can handle large conductors and connectors without feeding them through a permanently closed crimping head.
700 Bar Hydraulic Pump Operation
The RHU600 hydraulic crimping head requires a compatible hydraulic pump capable of developing 700 bar.
An automatic-locking male quick coupler provides the hydraulic connection between the head and pump hose.
Therefore, the head can form part of a modular Cembre hydraulic tooling system.
However, the selected hydraulic pump must also provide sufficient oil capacity for the RHU600’s approximately 320 cm³ displacement requirement.
Always fully depressurise the hydraulic system before disconnecting the head.
Floor Mounted or Suspended Operation
The standard RHU600 can operate from its HS600 support base when placed on a stable, level surface.
Alternatively, the integral hanger allows the head to be suspended when the application requires a different working position.
Therefore, operators can configure the heavy 600 kN head to suit different installation environments.
The complete RHU600 with support weighs approximately 22.4 kg, while the hydraulic head without the support weighs approximately 19 kg.
