Gel-Filled Electrical Cable Joints
Raytech Magic Joint systems use Magic Gel to surround and insulate the electrical connection.
Unlike hard-setting resin, the gel remains soft after cross-linking. Therefore, installers can access the connection again for inspection or maintenance.
Furthermore, Raytech specifies Magic Joint for installation in pits, ducts, directly underground and underwater. The current manufacturer data also lists a gel cross-linking time of approximately 10 minutes at 23°C.
Choosing the Correct Cable Joint
Select the joint according to:
Number of cable cores
Conductor cross-section
Copper or aluminium conductor
Cable outside diameter
Straight or branch configuration
Required enclosure size
Installation environment
For example, a straight in-line connection requires a different enclosure from a Y or T branch. Likewise, conductor size alone may not determine the correct joint because the finished cable outside diameter must also fit the enclosure.
Therefore, always check the individual product specifications before ordering.
