Aluminium Based Deadends for ACSR Conductors – Multi Piece – Full Tension

In Stock

PLP FTG multi-piece ACSR deadend grips provide full tension terminations for specified aluminium conductors with steel reinforcement.

  • Five options: FTG-113, FTG-143, FTG-175, FTG-210 and FTG-245
  • Conductor diameters from 11.25 to 24.50 mm, matched to the listed strand construction
  • Red, blue or purple identification marks, depending on the part

Check the full part number, stranding and lay before ordering. Colours repeat across sizes, so use the selection table below to confirm the required option.

Description

FTG full tension ACSR deadend grips

PLP FTG ACSR deadend grips terminate aluminium conductors with a steel reinforcement. This aluminium based range uses a multi-piece design for full tension applications. Five options are available here, covering the specific conductor constructions shown below.

PLP designs its preformed grips to spread their grip along the conductor and reduce distortion. However, each fitting must match the conductor size, type and lay. The lay is the direction in which the strands twist. Check that detail as well as the outside diameter before choosing a grip.

ACSR deadend grip selection table

The following sizes and colour codes match PLP’s FTG table. Store SKUs include the PLP prefix; the manufacturer’s codes start with FTG. All conductor diameters are in millimetres.

Stranding notation follows the manufacturer catalogue. For example, the FTG-143 entry records different wire sizes for the aluminium strands and steel core. Therefore, compare the full strand construction with your conductor schedule rather than matching only the overall diameter.

Use the code and colour together

Colour marks help identify the grip and show the starting point for application. However, a colour is not a unique part number. In this range, both FTG-113 and FTG-210 use red, while FTG-143 and FTG-175 use blue. Always check the complete code before installation.

  • First, identify the ACSR conductor and its full strand construction.
  • Then check its overall diameter and strand lay against the specified fitting.
  • Next, match the FTG part number and colour code to the required option.
  • Finally, confirm the termination hardware and installation instructions for the project.

Installation and handling

Use the current PLP instructions for the exact grip. These fittings are precision products, so handle them carefully and keep them under cover in their cartons before use. PLP specifies installation by qualified line workers and prohibits modification of the fitting.

The catalogue identifies FTG as a full tension range. It does not give an individual working load in the selection table. Consequently, confirm the required mechanical performance and hardware arrangement from the project specification and applicable PLP instructions.

Documents and ordering help
