Porcelain guy strain insulators: GY2, GY3 and GY4
These guy strain insulators are porcelain fittings in the manufacturer’s low-voltage range. Choose GY2, GY3 or GY4 to match the dimensions and mechanical requirements of your stay assembly. The three options have separate DULGY order codes and different overall lengths.
GY2 is 146 mm long, GY3 is 216 mm and GY4 is 280 mm. First, match the exact part to your drawing or parts list. Then check the dimensions and minimum failing load together; a load figure alone does not establish the correct fit.

The letter references match the drawing on page 10-3 of the Dulmison catalogue. Consult that drawing for the remaining groove and hole dimensions. All three parts are listed as porcelain LV guy strain insulators.
Minimum failing load is a mechanical failure figure, not a working-load limit or an electrical voltage rating. GY3 and GY4 share the same listed minimum failing load. However, their lengths differ, so they should not be selected on that figure alone.
Check the complete stay assembly
- Use the full DULGY SKU to identify the required GY2, GY3 or GY4 part.
- Compare the catalogue drawing with the required groove, hole and body dimensions.
- Confirm that the stay wire and end fittings suit the selected insulator.
- Check the electrical and mechanical requirements specified for your installation.
