Utilux non-tension sleeve range
A Utilux non-tension sleeve joins conductors in overhead or underground industrial and commercial installations. This range uses a tubular aluminium alloy body with a centre barrier. Each sleeve also comes pre-packed with jointing compound in its own sealed plastic bag.
The range suits AAC, AAAC and ACSR conductors. These names refer to all aluminium conductors, all aluminium alloy conductors, and aluminium conductors with a steel reinforcement. However, you still need to match the sleeve and tooling to the exact conductor. A general material match alone does not establish the correct joint.

Part-number check: The Utilux manual lists NT44, NT50 and NT61 without the store’s “-1” suffix. Therefore, quote the full store SKU when ordering. If your drawing or parts list uses a catalogue code, ask Engineering Supplies to confirm the match before purchase.
Catalogue dimensions for reference
The manufacturer lists the following dimensions under its own part numbers. These figures help compare the catalogue sizes; they do not explain the store SKU suffix.
- NT44: 8–10 mm conductor diameter, 70 mm sleeve length and 20.6 mm nominal outside diameter.
- NT50: 10–12 mm conductor diameter, 84 mm sleeve length and 20.6 mm nominal outside diameter.
- NT61: 13–14.5 mm conductor diameter, 111 mm sleeve length and 25.4 mm nominal outside diameter.
Tooling and joint selection
Utilux specifies hexagonal or indent crimps for the non-tension sleeve range. In addition, Appendix A of the Utilux manual provides conductor and die selection tables. Check the correct die and crimping instructions for the part you will use.
- First, identify the conductor type, strand details and overall diameter.
- Then confirm the sleeve code against the project drawing or parts list.
- Next, check the required die and crimping method before installation.
- Finally, confirm that a non-tension joint suits the application. If the joint must carry full line tension, ask about the appropriate full tension fitting.
The photos show a sleeve with printed crimp marks. However, they are representative images shared across the options. Use the confirmed part number and instructions to select tooling, rather than markings visible in a general product photo.
