Description

Phoenix Contact ST-BW terminal actuation tool

The Phoenix Contact ST-BW is a hand tool for operating 2.5–4.0 mm² spring cages. It gives you a dedicated blade for the terminal opening step when fitting or removing a conductor. Phoenix Contact also identifies ST and QTC modular terminal blocks as suitable applications for this tool.

The blade is 0.6 mm thick and 3.5 mm wide. It has an 81 mm blade length, while the full tool measures 160 mm. These dimensions help you check the tool against the terminal opening and the space available in the assembly.

Choosing the right terminal tool

Match the actuation tool to the terminal model before use. The spring-cage size range describes the tool’s intended application; it does not replace the conductor size limits stated for an individual terminal. Likewise, the terminal instructions determine the wire preparation and opening method.

Check that the blade can enter the actuation opening without forcing it. Then follow the terminal maker’s fitting sequence. For an existing panel, the terminal part number is the most useful starting point when confirming the correct tool.
