Description
The Phoenix Contact WIREFOX-D 40 strips cable sheaths on cables with an outside diameter of 4.5–40 mm. Its pivoting blade supports round, lengthwise and spiral cuts, with a stated insulation thickness limit of 4.5 mm. The blade is replaceable, so you can order a spare for the tool when needed.

Three ways to cut the cable sheath
A round cut goes around the cable. A lengthwise cut runs along the cable, while a spiral cut follows a winding path. The pivoting blade gives you these options in one stripping tool.
Choose the cutting method for the cable and the section of sheath you need to remove. Follow the tool’s guide for blade position and depth, and check the cable construction before starting.
Check diameter and insulation thickness
First, check the cable’s outside diameter against the 4.5–40 mm range. Then check the sheath thickness against the 4.5 mm limit. These are different checks; a cable that fits the diameter range may still need a different stripping approach.
Use the cable data sheet when checking a parts list. The wire’s mm² size alone does not show its finished outside diameter or sheath thickness. If those details are missing, send us the cable part number so we can help with tool selection.
