Stripping Tools

Phoenix Contact stripping tools help remove cable sheaths before connection work. Engineering Supplies lists WIREFOX-D 11 and WIREFOX-D 40, which cover different cable diameters and insulation thicknesses.

First, measure the cable outside diameter and check the sheath construction. Then select the tool whose working range suits both dimensions and the required cut.

Phoenix Contact stripping tools in this range

  • WIREFOX-D 11, PC1212160: for multicore signal, control and fibreglass cables from 2.5–11mm diameter, with insulation up to 1mm thick.
  • WIREFOX-D 40, PC1212161: for cables from 4.5–40mm diameter, with insulation up to 4.5mm thick.

Match the blade and cut to the cable

The D 40 has a pivoting blade for round, lengthwise and spiral cuts. Also, both models use replaceable stripping blades.

Check the sheath thickness as well as cable diameter. A cable within the diameter range may still need a different blade setting, so follow the selected tool’s instructions.

Next, consider the strip length and access around the cable. Use the manufacturer’s D 40 information when checking that model’s working details.

Finally, include the cable type and dimensions when requesting a product match or a replacement blade.
