Description
Cembre VASCO5000 Biodegradable Rail Drill Coolant
The Cembre VASCO5000 rail coolant is a biodegradable lubricating and cooling concentrate specifically developed for rail drilling applications. Cembre recommends VASCO5000 for use with its rail drilling machines, broach cutters and spiral drill bits to improve cutting performance while reducing heat during drilling.
Manufactured from a vegetable-based formulation, VASCO5000 mixes with water to produce an effective white lubricating coolant. As a result, it helps control heat at both the cutting tool and rail while providing the lubrication required for efficient drilling.
Cembre VASCO5000 Rail Coolant for Rail Drilling
For normal rail drilling applications, mix 5% VASCO5000 concentrate with 95% water.
When used with a Cembre rail drill and the correct cutting tool, the coolant flows directly to the cutting area. Therefore, it provides continuous lubrication and cooling throughout the drilling operation.
Key benefits include:
- Specifically recommended for Cembre rail drilling machines
- Suitable for Cembre CY Broach Cutters
- Suitable for rail drilling with compatible spiral drill bits
- Biodegradable vegetable-origin formulation
- Mixes at approximately 5% concentrate to 95% water
- Helps minimise heat generation during rail drilling
- Lubricates the cutting surface and cutting tool
- Helps maximise cutter performance and service life
- Suitable for professional railway construction and maintenance applications
For optimum drilling performance, we recommend using VASCO5000 together with Cembre’s CY Broach Cutters.
Recommended Coolant for the Cembre AR Rail Connection System
VASCO5000 is also recommended when drilling rail web holes for the installation of Cembre AR electrical connection bushes.
Importantly, when VASCO5000 is used as the drilling coolant, the rail web hole does not need to be dried before installing the Cembre AR bush. As a result, installers can proceed directly from drilling and checking the hole to installing the AR connection.
This provides a significant practical advantage during track work by simplifying the installation process and reducing unnecessary preparation.
The Cembre AR system uses a mechanically expanded conductive bush to create a permanent, low-resistance electrical connection to the rail web. Therefore, correct hole preparation, drilling equipment and installation tooling are important parts of the complete connection system.
VASCO5000 is recommended for drilling holes used with Cembre AR rail connections including applications for:
- Traction return bonding
- Rail continuity bonding
- Earthing and ground bonding
- Signal track circuits
- Electrical drainage
- Substation rail connections
VASCO5000 Mixing Ratio
For normal use, mix:
- 5% Cembre VASCO5000 concentrate
- 95% water
For example, 250 mL of VASCO5000 mixed with 4.75 litres of water produces 5 litres of ready-to-use rail drilling coolant.
In addition, always prepare and use the coolant in accordance with the current Cembre instructions for the rail drill and application.
Available VASCO5000 Container Sizes
Engineering Supplies supplies VASCO5000 in three convenient container sizes:
- VASCO5000-3LT – 3 Litre
- VASCO5000-10LT – 10 Litre
