Choosing the correct terminal and die station
Check both the terminal design and the conductor size before choosing a crimper. The 2.8, 4.8 and 6.3 mm figures identify the slip-on sleeve sizes. In contrast, the mm² ranges identify the wire cross-sections handled by each die station. They are different measurements, so match both to your job.
Next, check the terminal maker’s crimp requirements. Similar-looking open-barrel contacts can have different barrel shapes, wire ranges and tool requirements. A terminal described as a relay contact or spade terminal still needs its own tool match; the name alone does not confirm suitability.
Use the marked station for the chosen conductor range and prepare the wire to the terminal maker’s strip-length guidance. This helps you select the tool and consumables as a set, rather than relying on a broad terminal label.
Cable preparation and product support
For cable preparation, see the CUTFOX 12_DB copper and aluminium cable cutter. Check its stated cable limits against the cable you plan to cut.
